Munnar is a magnificent hill station in Kerala which boasts of scenic landscapes & a cool climate! One day is good enough to cover all the attractions in this town. This itinerary doesn’t include travel time to Munnar, so make sure you are here the night before. Read my earlier blog-post on Driving from Cochin to Munnar in a Day to know more.
Here are some of the highlights from my Munnar in a Day Guide!
1. Tea Plantations
Begin your day with a walk through the lush green tea plantations. Take in the sweet aroma and rejoice in the beautiful landscape along with your family and friends.
2. Tea Museum
Owing to the importance of tea plantations in Munnar, Tata Tea established a Tea Museum in 2005. Various stages of tea processing can be seen, which includes the making of black tea.
TIP: Unlike what the internet will tell you, you do not get to taste multiple varieties of tea here, in fact there is no tea tasting at all. Feel free to skip it, I felt the entry fee is too much for the experience!
3. Blossom Park
The Blossom Park is full of beautiful flowers, lofty trees and green grass which makes it an excellent photo opp! The entry fee is pretty light on the pocket too.
4. Lunch – Kerala Thali
Order a Veg. Kerala Thali at a popular local restaurant during lunch. A simple and balanced meal to fill your stomach and at the same time a great way to get immersed in the local culture.
5. Kathakali Performance
The classical art form – Kathakali originated 300 years ago in Kerala! It is a glorious blend of drama, dance, mime, music, costumes and make up. Great stories of the past, mostly from Indian epics are retold in a unique fashion. End your day in Munnar with this eye-catching performance, as it performed only after dusk.
