Visiting Silvassa had always been on my list since I moved to Mumbai 4 years back. Located on the Daman Ganga river in western India, Silvassa is the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli – a Union Territory. Formerly under Portuguese rule, it’s known for its lush greenery, varied tribal heritage and tax – free alcohol!

As there are no direct flights/trains/buses between Mumbai to Silvassa, the most convenient and fast way to reach is by road. You can choose to drive or book a cab, like I did.

I highly recommend visiting the Butterfly Park in Silvassa, it is a very peaceful and well-maintained site. Home to a large species of butterflies, it is perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts!

I ended my trip by visiting a local artist and shopped for some tribal artefacts. A must by are the ‘Warli’ paintings, they are beautiful and one of a kind. Perfect for gifting friends and family.

It was a short but an incredible trip, I can’t wait to come back and explore more of Silvassa!
